Welcome to My Gnarly World
Updated: Jul 20, 2021
Hi, I am Jamie. I have tried to do this before, but I think I can do it this time. I like to write and create and share what I know and think. A blog is the perfect place for that. I grew up in Westerville, Ohio and my teen-age years were the 80s. We are a product of the times during which we grow up. The 80s were a unique time to grow up. It was safe to play in the streets without your parents watching you. You were able to disagree with someone without half the world rising up in anger against you. We believed in science, it was not political. There was enough for everyone, and everyone knew how to work for what they wanted. That may have been in just my bubble, but my bubble must have been very big.
I am going to use this blog to talk about the things I like to talk about. In this, you will probably find lots of my ideas on society, music, tv, movies, books, games, and growing up 80s. My viewpoints are my own, and don't reflect anyone else's on purpose. I am sure you will agree with me on some things and disagree on others. It is my hope to turn this into a forum for just that purpose.
I am a teacher, I speak a couple languages. I like to travel. I am divorced and the happiest I have ever been in my life. I am active in my church. These are all things that will become evident, through my postings. Also, as of this writing, I am finishing my master's degree and I will post things here that I have found interesting. Watch the tags for the blog and I am sure it will be easy to follow.
We had such interesting vocabulary in the 80s. I know what a lot of it meant, and I still use a few phrases (It's a cinch, or it's cinchy in my classroom gets a lot of groans). The world I grew up in was fantastic, and colorful. It was DayGlow colors and synthesized music. That's what made me. Welcome to my gnarly world.
